The Melior story
As medical professionals with more than 17 years of practical experience in the healthcare sector, Ayman and Daniel, the Melior founders, have seen first hand how the gaps in communication between patients and healthcare service providers is plaguing medical services and care.
The available tools to track performance and assess patients’ experiences are still failing to provide service providers with actionable data and metrics that simply pinpoints the most pertinent areas of needed intervention. The result? Only 4% of patients globally communicate their complaints to managers, the rest leave feeling angry, frustrated and unwilling to return or recommend others.
As doctors, Ayman and Daniel realized the model and tools to collect patients’ voices needs to be rebuilt from the grounds up and, in doing so, radical improvements in complaints’ management and performance tracking simply leads to patient retention, loyalty, efficiency and improvement of overall healthcare services.
And that’s how Melior was born.
Since then, Melior has been growing in tools and features with one goal in mind: To give you, healthcare service managers, access to reliable, precise and action-driven data that makes it easy to make informed decisions that improve services provided to patients.

A doctor-turned-medical management professional, Ayman has experienced the different sides of patient care.
After studying medicine in Egypt, Ayman earned his Master’ degree in International Healthcare Systems Management from Innsbruck, Austria. He then studied strategic litigation at the Harvard School of Public Health and received a professional diploma in Total Quality Management for Healthcare Reform.
In 2010, he founded the Egyptian Medical Students’ Association (EMSA), an NGO that aims to empower healthcare professionals in Egypt.
In 2012, Ayman and Daniel launched Shamseya, a healthcare-focused social enterprise that seeks to provide community-led solutions to the healthcare industry’s many challenges.
In 2019, he was named a fellow at the Obama Foundation.
In 2022, Ayman and Daniel partnered once more to create Melior, a patient engagement and online feedback and complaint management platform to improve and scale healthcare businesses in the Middle East and the world.
Ayman currently teaches at the International Health and Social Management Master’s program at the Management Center Innsbruck and at Australia’s New Castle University, where he serves as an Advisory Board Member for its UON Health Economics, Management, and Policy suite of Programs.
After turning to healthcare management, Daniel joined Ayman as a co-founder of Shamseya, where, together, they have been creating healthcare solutions to support Egypt’s dynamic healthcare industry.
Since 2012, Daniel has been Shamseya’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), where he has been building teams and operational infrastructures to ensure Shamseya’s growth and sustainability for the years to come.
Since 2013, Daniel has been the Board President of the Egyptian Medical Students’ Association (EMSA), supporting medical students and professionals across the country.
Backed by his managerial successes in driving Shamseya forward, Daniel was elected an Ashoka fellow in 2016.
Since co-founding Melior in October 2022, Daniel, serves as its COO and has been working to expand the benefits of patient experience management and support medical businesses in building better relationships with their patients.
